Successfully de-Googled an Android smartphone to enhance privacy and security by replacing the stock operating system with GrapheneOS. The process included conducting research on secure, privacy-focused operating systems; unlocking the device bootloader and securely flashing GrapheneOS while ensuring data integrity; configuring the system with essential privacy tools, open-source apps, and ensuring compatibility with daily functionality; and optimizing device performance and conducting security audits to minimize exposure to trackers and vulnerabilities.

Implemented a dual-boot configuration on a Windows 11 laptop to enhance flexibility for development and general computing needs. Key activities included configuring the system to run both Windows 11 and Ubuntu, ensuring seamless switching between operating systems; allocating and formatting disk partitions to support Ubuntu installation without compromising the existing Windows environment; setting up a shared NTFS drive accessible by both operating systems for efficient file sharing and collaboration; and optimizing Ubuntu for development, including software installation and performance tuning. This project expanded technical proficiency in system configuration, OS installation, disk management, and cross-platform compatibility.

Developed and enhanced a web application using legacy ColdFusion code to meet modern requirements. Key responsibilities included analyzing and understanding existing ColdFusion codebase to identify reusable components and areas for optimization; designing and implementing new features while maintaining compatibility with the legacy system architecture, debugging and refactoring legacy ColdFusion code to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability; and integrating modern front-end technologies (e.g., MySQL, HTML, CSS) for an improved user experience. This project enhanced my ability to work with legacy technologies, MVC, RESTful API’s, ensure system sustainability, and deliver modern solutions within established frameworks.

Implemented a home DNS server using Pi-hole to enhance network security, privacy, and browsing experience by blocking intrusive ads and trackers. Key contributions included setting up Pi-hole on a Raspberry Pi to serve as a dedicated DNS server for the home network; configuring the router and devices to route DNS queries through Pi-hole for centralized ad-blocking; customizing blocklists to optimize ad-blocking without disrupting functionality of essential services; and monitoring network traffic using Pi-hole’s dashboard to analyze and fine-tune performance. Enhanced technical skills in networking, system administration, and open-source software implementation.
